Caring Closet is a ministry that provides free children’s clothing to our neighbors in need. The service is open on the first, and third Tuesday of the month from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the church fellowship hall.
A dozen dedicated women from the church sort and organize donated clothing in sizes from infants to teens and run the “free retail operation” for the community. Each week 75 -100 families come for the clothing, among them many New Americans. Volunteers and clothing donations are always needed.
This garden is located at our south campus on 25th Street and 40th Avenue. Members of our congregation and other community volunteers work in the garden during the growing season each Thursday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.
All are welcome to share in the joys of planting, tending and harvesting the fresh, nutritious vegetables that are grown.
Café First is a community meal shared by Fargo First United Methodist members and our surrounding neighbors. During the school year, Café First opens Wednesdays at 5:00 PM
This time of hospitality and fellowship is provided by dedicated volunteers who prepare, serve and clean up a hot, nutritious meal every week during the school year.
Meals are $4 per person if you are able to pay.
One member of this worshipping community calls this “the perfect place for imperfect people”.
Pastor John Roberts, a recovering person, leads Recovery Worship each Sunday at our south campus on 25th Street South and 40th Avenue South. We begin at 10:00 AM and go as long as the Spirit moves us!
All are welcome at this non-judgmental service.
1st Church provides workers at the Fargo Food Pantry once a month, stocking shelves and helping clients. For individuals needing food, food vouchers are available at our church office. Many persons each week request this assistance.
Spirit Lake Ministry Center, located near Devil’s Lake, is a ministry of the Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Fargo First members Mike and Libby Flowers are the missionaries that run the center.
Each fall our church is a collecting site for hundred of shoe box gifts lovingly prepared by our own members and United Methodists from the area. Mike and Libby then distribute the gifts to children who would otherwise not have gifts for Christmas.
Our Quilters sent 40-50 quilts to the Ministry Center for distribution. Several work teams go each year to work on whatever projects with which the Flowers need help.
Last summer Fargo First contributed the dollars needed to buy a lawn tractor that cut days off the time needed to mow the Ministry Center grounds.
